What is Occupational Health

Occupational health is a field of healthcare involving multiple fields dedicated to the well-being and safety of employees in the workplace, with a strong focus on injury prevention and education. Acme is located in the South Fork Valley between the northern Cascade Mountains and Lake Whatcom. Acme is locally known as a scenic area with a number of camping opportunities along Lake Whatcom, including the Lake Whatcom Railroad.

As of the census of 2000, there were 263 people, 82 households, and 66 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 26.8 people per square mile (10.4/km²). There were 88 housing units at an average density of 9.0/sq mi (3.5/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.16% White, 3.80% from other races, and 3.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.94% of the population.

There were 82 households out of which 53.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.0% were married couples living together, 9.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.5% were non-families. 13.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.20 and the average family size was 3.52.
