The city is situated east of the Neosho River along the south bank of Elm Creek in Iola Township, and it lies adjacent to the southern border of the city of Iola (the county seat). Lake Bassola lies to the east of the city. The city is less than two miles southwest of the interchange between U.S. Routes 54 and 169.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.09 square miles (0.23 km2), of which, 0.06 square miles (0.16 km2) is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) is water.
