What is Occupational Health

Occupational health is a field of healthcare involving multiple fields dedicated to the well-being and safety of employees in the workplace, with a strong focus on injury prevention and education. Local Area Info: Benton Ridge, Ohio

Benton Ridge was originally called Benton, and under the latter name was laid out in 1835 and named for Thomas Hart Benton (1782–1858), a U.S. Senator from Missouri. A post office called Benton Ridge has been in operation since 1837. The village was incorporated in 1875.

As of the census of 2010, there were 299 people, 116 households, and 77 families residing in the village. The population density was 879.4 inhabitants per square mile (339.5/km2). There were 119 housing units at an average density of 350.0 per square mile (135.1/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 95.7% White, 0.7% Native American, 1.7% from other races, and 2.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.0% of the population.

There were 116 households of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.7% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 33.6% were non-families. 28.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.04.
