What is Occupational Health

Occupational health is a field of healthcare involving multiple fields dedicated to the well-being and safety of employees in the workplace, with a strong focus on injury prevention and education. Pine Island Center is a census-designated place (CDP) located on Pine Island in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,721 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,721 people, 750 households, and 527 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 400.4 people per square mile (154.5/km²). There were 953 housing units at an average density of 221.7/sq mi (85.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.75% White, 1.16% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 1.16% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.44% of the population.

There were 750 households out of which 23.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 9.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 23.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.67.
